The Model Mama

FEATURE FRIDAY: CHELSEA CANNELL BRIGGS

MOMMYHOODTara Lawler

Ok Mamas, what a week it has been. I’m so happy my favorite day of the week has finally arrived…TGIFF, thank Godness it Feature Friday! I love looking forward to introducing y’all to this week’s Feature Friday Mama. This week’s oh-so incredible Mama packs a whole lot of wisdom into episode #4. Truly, I hope you have your note pad in one hand, and glass of rosé in the other. Without further ado, this week’s super inspiring Mama is my friend and former Fox Sports colleague, Chelsea Cannell Briggs – a talented sports reporter, entertainment host, and successful creator and co-host of her YouTube channel, called Mom Style – and most importantly, Chelsea is an amazing Mama to her adorable 1-year-old son.

She also gets into all the real (and sometimes stinky) moments of Motherhood with a whole lot of surrender and laughter along the way. I’ll give you a hint – her funniest “mom moment” involves baby poop and salsa – oh my! I’m still laughing about that hilarious story and truly energized by all her insight about how she tackled Mommyhood. With the first year under her belt, Chelsea has fallen in love with her new routine, learned the power of surrender, mindful meditation, and how to brush off the messy moments you can’t always control.

Some of my FAVORITE takeaways from Chelsea:

+ Set boundaries to preserve your energy for what matters the most.

Manage your energy. You cannot give what you need to give to your family, your kids, and most importantly yourself, if you tap out in other areas.
— Chelsea

+ Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

It was a system of trying to do it by myself and realizing I needed help. Reaching out to a friend of mine that’s a life coach and started working with her. Stephanie’s taught me, how to incorporate what I want, what my son needs, and how to make that balance happen… Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t try to be superhuman. And don’t try to control or fix those really hard days, just learn to ride the waves.

+ Meditation is transformative

I found meditation… It’s been transformative for me. It’s allowed me to have a practice and give back to myself on a daily basis… it only takes five minutes.
— Chelsea

The style of mediation she prefers: Kelee Meditation www.thekelee.com

+ On Self-Love: Learn how to identify what YOUR needs are.

Ask yourself, what do I need right now, if I’m having a moment that’s really trying. Or what do I need today, how can I give to myself today.
— Chelsea

+ Learn to surrender

Pick 3 things a day that you hope to accomplish and that’s enough… allow for the unexpected and SURRENDER… That’s really the biggest lesson for me!
— Chelsea

+ Be intentional with how you start your day

Getting up before my son (if possible) is really helpful to allow myself that space to meditate for 5 minutes. Set my day, feel like I gave myself some time. Then I don’t feel like I’m just giving to everybody else all day and there’s no time for me.
